Commission and its Transparency on On-Demand Service Platforms (with Basak Kalkanci)

On-demand service platforms have been experimenting with the commission that they charge workers, particularly with the consistency of commission across service instances and its transparency to workers. Motivated by these practices, we examine how a platform's commission level, its consistency, and its transparency influence worker participation on the platform.
